On 26 October, Germany announced a €15 million contribution through the International Climate Initiative to the joint landscape-conservation work of UNDP, UNCDF and UNESCO. The announcement came in Yerevan, Armenia, at an event alongside the COP17 biodiversity conference. [1]

Established by the three United Nations organisations in 2023, the Nature Investment Facility brings together grants and private investment. It aims to reduce risks that hold back some investment and support economic activities compatible with conservation. Its work focuses on landscapes that include natural World Heritage sites and biosphere reserves. [2][1]

According to the announcement, the new funding will support the launch of Africa Living Landscapes and the expansion of the Tiger Landscapes Investment Facility in South-East Asia. These are intended uses and goals of an announced contribution. The news does not certify hectares already restored, species saved or money already paid to individual businesses. [1]
