ESA and the European Commission presented Sentinel-3C’s first images and measurements on 8 October. They include a view of Italy captured on 30 September by the instrument that observes land and ocean colour. This is an update after launch, not an announcement of a new departure. [1][2]

The satellite has also returned images of the Arctic and Caribbean; its radar altimeter has measured sea-surface and Greenland ice-sheet heights. In-orbit commissioning continues, with ESA indicating around five more months of checks. The initial data are an operational milestone, not the completion of the entire commissioning phase. [1][2]
