A Caritas cohousing apartment opened in Sesto Fiorentino on 20 October, in a property provided by the parish of San Martino. The Fondazione Solidarietà Caritas project will accommodate five people with international protection who have completed the Reception and Integration System programme, offering a six-month stay with support. Staff will help with employment, relationships and financial independence, aiming to enable residents to secure their own rental agreement. The initiative belongs to the Rubiks project, funded by Italy’s Interior Ministry through FAMI and led by the City of Florence. The opening has taken place; independent housing for the residents remains an objective to work towards, rather than a demonstrated outcome. [1]
